Cadillac Brougham Accessories

1987-89 Cadillac Brougham with Premiere Roof o...Image via WikipediaThe Cadillac Brougham first arrived in 1987. Based on the Fleetwood Brougham which premiered a year earlier, the Cadillac Brougham was a four-door full-size sedan based off of GM's D-body platform. For its first year on the road, the Brougham was outfitted with a 5.0L V8 engine good for approximately 140 horsepower and a four-speed automatic transmission. As for its dimensions, the Brougham measured in with a wheelbase of 121.5 inches, a width of 76.5 inches, a height of 56.7 inches (later raised to 57.4 inches in 1990), and an overall length of 221 inches.
The Cadillac Brougham was initially manufactured from 1985-87 at the Clark Street Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan. From 1988 through 1992, the model's assembly was moved to the Arlington Assembly in Arlington, Texas. There were not many changes made to the model during its time in service. The engine was upgraded in 1990 to an Oldsmobile 5.7L V8 that could produce up to 185 horsepower, while a year later, a Chevy 5.0L V8 became available. Models equipped with the Chevy V8 used a four-speed 4L60 automatic transmission. Brougham variants that include the Oldsmobile V8 configuration received a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission.

Several updates were made to the model come 1989, most notably a restyled front-end grille. A year later, Cadillac gave the sedan new composite headlights, new tail lights, new bumper moldings, and implemented digital dash displays as well as door-mounted seatbelts for the inside of the model. Also, this was the year in which the Chevy V8 became an option for the Brougham, as well. Throughout its limited run of production, the Brougham averaged 38,900 models sold per year, a respectable figure given the segment.

Class. It's a word that is certainly not new to Brougham drivers, as this smooth sedan still maintains a mighty presence to this day. The Brougham is an undeniable steward of the Cadillac name, having been tasked with help carrying the torch for the brand since the very beginning. It has always been an elegant cruiser that delivers on luxury as much as practicality. Some things never change.
