A Direct Rival to BMW 3 Series Unveiled.
New luxury sports sedan, the ATS was presented at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show as a direct rival to the BMW 3 Series. According to the auto maker, the ATS will not just compete, but beat the current segment leading vehicle.
One of the notable updates is the weight reduction, which was the key in car's development. It resulted in the improved performance and efficiency, yet more nimble driving overall. Such parts as the magnesium engine mounts, “natural-fiber” door trim panels, and the aluminum hood also resulted the vehicle's balance. Cadillac ATS accessories.
The other significant improvement is the addition of the optional 270-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. As for the design, the newly built ATS's overall shape is similar to the CTS's, yet featuring design cues from the new XTS flagship sedan. The prominent two-piece grille was widened and toned-down on the chrome. The auto maker equipped new ATS with such safety and convenience technologies: blind spot monitoring, intelligent brake assist, lane departure warning, hill hold assist, full speed adaptive cruise control, a collision alert system, a back-up camera, and adaptive forward lighting. While the vehicle got adjustable Magnetic Ride Control suspension as standard equipment as well as a ZF variable electric steering system and 17-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and 18-inch wheels are optional.
