New 2012 Cadillac CTS-V

Brash yet richly appointed, the 2012 Cadillac CTS-V is an American sensation in the prestigious high-performance touring segment usually dominated by German brands. Offered in three body styles, the CTS-V delivers viscous straight-line power and confident road-hugging handling; all the while catering the personal whims of a discriminating driver.
Few changes were made for 2012. Rainsense automatic wipers are standard, and new three exterior colors were introduced. The Coupe model also gets side blind-zone alert.
Like the Cadillac CTS line, the CTS-V is available in a 4-door Sedan, 2-door Coupe or Sport Wagon configuration. The biggest difference between the three is storage space with the Sport Wagon offering a generous 53.4 cubic feet when the rear seat is folded down. The Coupe offers just 10.5 cubic feet in its trunk. Styling cues unique to the CTS-V include a larger grille, raised hood, and rear spoiler.
A 556-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 separates the CTS-V from its Cadillac CTS siblings. The most powerful engine in Cadillac history, the 6.2-liter V8 can be mated to either a 6-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters or a 6-speed manual transmission with a dual-disc clutch. The CTS-V is rear-wheel-drive only, and there is a limited-slip differential to help control power launches. EPA estimated fuel economy is 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway for the automatic and 14/19 for the 6-speed.

Precise road handling with a flair for luxury is also a hallmark of the CTS-V line, thanks to a 4-wheel independent suspension enhanced with shock absorbers controlled by advanced rheological technology. In simple terms, electronic sensors read the road conditions and constantly adjust the shocks for split-second control. Drivers can switch between Tour and Sport modes. They can also monitor the vehicle’s performance with a lateral acceleration display on the gauge panel. The CTS-V relies on huge Brembo brakes and special Michelin tires at all four wheels.
The CTS-V comes fully loaded with eight-way bucket seats trimmed in leather and suede, dual-zone automatic climate control, power adjustable steering column, ambient lighting, and Bose 5.1 surround sound audio with AM/FM/CD/DVD, navigation, 10 speakers, 40-gig hard drive, and USB port. A moonroof and racing style Recaro seats with 14-way adjustability are available options.
The CTS-V has not been crash tested by government or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. However, its near-identical twins, the CTS sedan and Sport Wagon, received five stars in both frontal and side-impact crash tests. The CTS also was named a 2012 IIHS Top Safety Pick. Standard safety equipment on the CTS-V includes antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, rear park assist, rearview camera, seat-mounted side airbags, side-curtain airbags, and OnStar.

Once dominated by the BMW M series and Mercedes-Benz AMG cars, the luxury performance market now has a worthy American entry in the 2012 Cadillac CTS-V.

A Direct Rival to BMW 3 Series Unveiled.
New luxury sports sedan, the ATS was presented at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show as a direct rival to the BMW 3 Series. According to the auto maker, the ATS will not just compete, but beat the current segment leading vehicle.
One of the notable updates is the weight reduction, which was the key in car's development. It resulted in the improved performance and efficiency, yet more nimble driving overall. The other significant improvement is the addition of the optional 270-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. As for the design, the newly built ATS's overall shape is similar to the CTS's, yet featuring design cues from the new XTS flagship sedan. The auto maker equipped new ATS with such safety and convenience technologies: blind spot monitoring, intelligent brake assist, lane departure warning, hill hold assist, full speed adaptive cruise control, a collision alert system, a back-up camera, and adaptive forward lighting. While the vehicle got adjustable Magnetic Ride Control suspension as standard equipment as well as a ZF variable electric steering system and 17-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and 18-inch wheels are optional.

With the Cadillac ATS, General Motors is trying to break into the market for small luxury sport sedans now dominated by BMW’s 3-Series. The ATS, unveiled Sunday, a day ahead of the North American International Auto Show press days in Detroit, was designed to be among the lightest cars in its class.
If Cadillac can gain a foothold in the segment, it will be highly lucrative for GM. Cadillac currently doesn’t have a car that can compete with the 3-Series. Last year, BMW sold more than 94,000 3-Series cars, including sedans, coupes, stations wagons and convertibles, according to Autodata Corp. The lowest-price model, the 328i sedan, starts at over $34,000 and decked-out versions can run higher than $60,000. GM wouldn’t reveal the price of the ATS, which will be built in Lansing, Mich., and is due in showrooms late this summer.

Cadillac really is ready to challenge all comers in the luxury automobile segment, then Mercedes-Benz is a great target to shoot for. General Motors' luxury arm picked out a Mercedes-Benz C300 as its desired target. There's really nothing in Cadillac's stable right now that lines up directly with the C300 (the CTS is too large and the ATS isn't here yet), so the American automaker decided to trot out... an Escalade.
Now, we're all for vehicles of different shapes and sizes lining up in one-on-one motorsports combat, but there's nothing fair about this fight. The C300 is an entry-level luxury sedan powered by a modest 228-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine (it's not even the most powerful 'regular' C-Class – that distinction belongs to the 302-hp C350). In the other line sits a gurgling, much more expensive luxury SUV with its 6.2-liter 403-horsepower V8 power plant loping eagerly under the hood.
Why not put an Escalade Hybrid up against an SLS AMG? If the 'Slade managed to beat that, then we'd really have something to talk about, eh?

Following months of rumors and spy shots, General Motors has released the first teaser image of its upcoming Cadillac ATS sedan. The new ATS sedan will slot beneath the CTS in the Cadillac lineup, taking on vehicles like the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The ATS’ design is clearly inspired by the CTS sedan, highlighted by crisp lines and bulging wheel arches. An up-swept character line is visible near the car’s rocker panel with large wheels giving the car a planted look.
Up front, though, it appears as though the ATS was influenced by the XTS Concept. Unlike the CTS’ headlights, the ATS’s appear to flow more into the car’s fenders, giving a more swept-back look. XTS-like fog light opens also look to be a part of the ATS’s front-end treatment.
The ATS’ will ride on an all-new RWD-AWD architecture dubbed Alpha. Although GM CEO Dan Akerson labeled the architecture as Cadillac-specific, it is believed the Alpha platform will underpin the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro as well as a sporty sedan wearing the Bow Tie badge.
Like the larger CTS, the ATS will be available in sedan, coupe and wagon body styles, although the Euro-rival will also be available as a convertible.
The big news powertrain-wise is that the ATS will get a turbocharged four-cylinder. The entry-level ATS is slated to come equipped with a 270 horsepower version of GM’s turbocharged 2.0L engine, backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to those eight cogs, the 2.0 ATS should return 22/32mpg.
An up-level 3.6L model will also be available, boasting 330 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It too will be mated with an eight-speed gearbox, returning economy of 20/30mpg.
An ATS-V model is certainly possible, but it remains to be seen what engine what stuff between its fenders.
Currently, production of the ATS sedan is slated to start in July of 2012, followed by the coupe in July of 2013. All ATS models will be assembled at the automaker’s Lansing, Michigan, assembly plant. Expect pricing to start in the mid-$20,000 range.

Cadillac unveiled the next-generation 2010 SRX Crossover today, featuring a completely new design and more-efficient, high-technology engine choices. The new SRX is a mid-size luxury crossover coming to the North American International Auto Show next week.
'The all-new SRX is a fresh and compelling crossover aimed squarely at the priorities of luxury buyers,' said Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel. 'With new technologies for increased efficiency and safety, the redesigned 2010 SRX Crossover focuses on both the emotional and pragmatic sides of the luxury consumer.
The 2010 SRX is designed for efficient performance, including the choice of two high-tech six-cylinder engines that are new to Cadillac – the smallest-displacement engines it offers in North America. A new, 3.0L direct injected V-6 engine is standard and a new, 2.8L turbocharged V-6 is optional. Both engines employ technology that helps produce strong performance that is typical of larger-displacement engines. Direct injection enables a 25-percent reduction in hydrocarbon emissions. Fuel economy in the mid-20s on the highway is expected, but testing isn't complete.

Cadillac Escalade ESV

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV is the largest model within the Escalade family of luxury SUVs, offering the most space for passengers and cargo. With its extreme expression of power, size and utility, its appeal depends on your perspective. Environmentalists might consider it a brash and wasteful road hazard. Suburbanites could see it as a sweet way to roll with lots of friends on a big Saturday night. Large families with something to tow could use it as their go-to vacation mobile. Our take? Sharing much of its DNA with the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, the Escalade ESV is 21 inches longer than a standard Escalade, seats up to eight and is able to haul up to 137 cubic feet of cargo with the second-row seats folded and the third row removed. The ESV offers the same basic layout and features as its shorter brother, but adds more luggage room behind the rear seats and the option of a third-row flip-down DVD entertainment screen. In addition to unmistakable Cadillac styling, the ESV also boasts a quiet, finely trimmed cabin, sophisticated adjustable suspension and a brawny but smooth 6.2-liter V8.
Yet there are downsides. Its maneuverability, braking performance and fuel economy are most comparable to ocean liners. You might expect this from such a big vehicle, but you might not expect the need to physically remove the third-row seat should your load require the ESV's huge, available cargo space. Almost every other large luxury SUV has a fold-flat third row. Of course, the Escalade ESV costs more than its brethren, too.
For those who would prefer something less ostentatious and who don't require the Escalade ESV's extra-large capacity, the Infiniti QX56, Land Rover LR4 and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class are less cumbersome to drive and great luxury SUVs in their own right. If you do need something extra-large, the Lincoln Navigator L is an alternative, though it lacks the power and prestige of the Cadillac. There's also the subtler but equally capable GMC Yukon XL Denali. The intakes of this series use the stock air filter location, but give it a boost with a larger air inlet to keep more cold air flowing through the 360 degree AIRAID® Filter. At the same time Cold Air Dam seals directly to the hood, separating the hot engine area from the air inlet to ensure that only cold air is supplied to the engine. The kit includes the Roto-Molded X-Linked Polyethylene intake tube that is less affected by the engine heat (compared to steel or aluminum tubing). All of these factors guarantee the horsepower and torque increase, as well as improvement on fuel consumption.

Cadillac Escalade News

The Cadillac Escalade has become a favorite of the hip-hop set and with high profile individuals everywhere since the full size luxury SUV first debuted in 1999, essentially as an up-level GMC Yukon. Now in its third generation, the Escalade still shares underpinnings with the Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe, but it features unique exterior styling, a more luxurious interior and a more powerful engine compared with its platform mates that allows it to compete with prestigious rivals such as the Mercedes Benz GL-class and Infiniti QX56.
All Escalades are powered by a 6.2-liter Vortec V8 with variable valve timing, good for 403 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque, and are equipped with a 6-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with driver shift control. Rear wheel drive is standard, while all wheel drive can be selected as an option.
The Escalade comes standard with a full leather and wood trimmed interior, a Bose 5.1 surround sound system, and a road sensing suspension that features computer controlled real-time damping. The second row can be configured with either a bench or bucket seats.
An Ultra Luxury Collection package is optional, featuring extras such as heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, and a DVD navigation system. Also included are niceties such as power folding second row seats, a rearview backup camera, and enormous 22-inch 7-spoke chromed aluminum wheels sure to satisfy customers looking for extra bling.
